The old perpetual rent must be abolished completely. If a shop, store or any type of business cannot afford to pay a decent rent to the landlord per month, then they should not be in business. There are well-established companies operating massive businesses who only pay Eur2.00/day for the stores they operate from. This is an injustice to the landlord who can barely make ends meet especially if they are on a pension.
