A person who retires at the age of 61, do not have to wait until he/she is 63 to take up any other employment and earn something extra. Of course, once he does so, he is obliged to pay his share of taxes etc. This will support further the economy and removes black economy (working without paying).
I have recently posted a similar suggestion. It is useless to encourage people to keep on contributing there experience to the society and in the same time they are penalized by loosing the pension for these two years if they continue working.
I agree. Why create obstacles to creativity, economic activity and the passing on of decades of experience just for the sake of it?
Malta is losing a lot of experienced people because of this. A lot of pensioners wish to contribute to their country even after retirement.
